What does “HODL” mean in crypto culture?

Michael Burry, famed for his prediction of the 2008 crisis, has voiced alarm over Bitcoin's steep fall and its ripple effects on gold and silver markets.

The legislation, crafted by the Senate Banking Committee, seeks clearer guidelines for digital asset exchanges, DeFi platforms, and stablecoin issuers.

Progress stalled when Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong withdrew support in January 2026, warning that limitations on yield-like rewards could cripple DeFi innovation and the platform’s business.

Armstrong also raised concerns about expanded government oversight and shifting regulatory authority toward the SEC instead of the CFTC.

The stalemate has rattled markets, driving down shares of crypto firms including Coinbase, and amplifying fears that U.S. hostility could send blockchain innovation overseas.

As negotiations continue, both industries are working to shape a bill that balances innovation with stable consumer protections, knowing the final outcome could set a lasting precedent for digital finance.

Imagine this: it's supposed to be bedtime, right? Picture this: midnight, pitch-black, me padding barefoot across hardwood that’s somehow iced over thicker than a Zamboni rink. My wife—let's call her Polar Queen—has the thermostat cranked to 'Abominable Snowman nap mode.' We're talking temperatures so low, physicists are outside with clipboards arguing if we've finally hit absolute zero.  

Thing is, she swears it's 'just a little chilly,' but facts don't care about feelings. My bedroom door swings open and—bam—air crystallizes mid-breath. I swear the oxygen molecules unionized, dropped picket signs that read 'Nope,' and straight-up clocked out. One flake hits my nostril; instant brain-freeze. I stagger forward like a T-Rex on stilts, knees chattering louder than maracas at a salsa funeral.  

Getting to the bed? Full expedition. I strap on metaphorical crampons—okay, fuzzy socks that lasted three seconds before they fused to the floor—and shuffle. Each step, the carpet yanks back like it's playing reverse hide-and-seek. My toes go numb first, then salute goodbye. Somewhere around 'frostbite O'clock,' I spot it: the summit. Our mattress, buried under three quilts thicker than a Kardashian alibi.  

I lunge. Bad move. Gravity forgets its job; momentum forgets physics. I belly-flop, slide six inches past, and dangle off the side like a popsicle someone lost in the freezer aisle. Wife doesn't stir—she's cocooned in flannel burritos, snoring what sounds suspiciously like victory music.  

Five minutes later I'm half-buried, shivering so hard my ribs click like castanets. Try exhaling? Turns into fog that spells 'Help' before crystallizing into hail. Lungs feel lined with menthol. Heart's debating if it's worth another beat. I whisper, 'Babe, could we nudge it to... negative nine million instead?' She mumbles something about bears hibernating comfy and flips the blanket higher.  

Moral? Never date a woman who grew up in Winnipeg. Their blood runs on antifreeze, yours on regret. By dawn I'm a human icicle, dreaming of saunas. She wakes up, fresh as spring, pats my cheek—now the exact blue of expired milk—and goes, 'You look cute when you're hypothermia.' Cute. Right. Next time I'm sleeping in the car with the heat cranked to 'lava.' Unless... wait, the garage is colder.
